What is the SPLE
SPLE or the Saudi Pharmacist Licensure Examination is the path to become a registered pharmacist and practice in Saudi Arabia as an internationally trained pharmacist. This examination is designed to make overseas pharmacists equivalent to pharmacists of Saudi Arabia by testing knowledge and skills to handle cases at pharmacies.
Clearing this exam allows you to earn great salaries, which are completely tax free. The SPLE is a mandatory assessment for domestic as well as foreign trained pharmacists.
SPLE Exam Eligibility Criteria
Let us now understand who is eligible to take the SPLE and become a registered pharmacist in Saudi Arabia. To become eligible for appearing for writing the SPLE exam, the candidate:
- Must possess a PharmD degree
- Must be a registered pharmacist in any country (including Saudi Arabia)
- Minimum 1 year work experience required in community or hospital pharmacy.
Procedure for SPLE
In 3 easy steps, you can become a registered pharmacist in Saudi Arabia and get your work visa. These steps are elaborated below:
- Data flow- The first step of the process is Dataflow, which is like an eligibility check that takes 25 to 35 days. The fee of this process is 840 Riyal.
- Classification is the second step, which takes 5 to 8 working days. The fee for Classification process is 200 Riyal. After Classification, an Eligibility ID is generated for the application, which is valid for 1 year, and a person can make three attempts for the exam with that ID.
- SPLE Exam- The SPLE is an MCQ-based test that you can take in your home country at your nearest Prometric test centre. You get the test results within 2-6 weeks, and on clearing the exam, you become eligible to get registered in Saudi Arabia. The exam carries a total of 800 marks, out of which minimum 536 marks are required for passing the exam. The exam fee is USD 289.
Exam Format
SPLE is a computer-based test which is taken in a Prometric testing centre. The exam consists of two sessions with a total of 210 MCQ-based questions; each set of 105 questions. The candidate must complete the exam within 4 hours.
You will get the test result within 2-6 weeks of taking the test. You can take up to 4 SPLE attempts within a year.
Testing Centres
You can take the SPLE exam at your nearest Saudi Prometric testing centre. There are several centres in India. You will get a chance to choose the centre while registering for the exam. In India, the Saudi Prometric exam centres are located in various cities like Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kochi, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, Noida, Navi Mumbai, Kerala and Trivandrum.
