Greetings from Papua New Guinea. At first I didn’t know where to start and how to approach the AMC MCQ exam. Since June 2023 when I started this sessions on AMC preparation the story is different now. The Two lecturers Namely, Dr Swapnil and Dr Udara are exceptionally committed and deliver well. The team is always available to answer to us anytime. They provide great support. I have not done the skill assessment yet, hoping to get that done this week and hopefully I will sit for the exam in November 2023.

About The APC Examination
What is the APC Exam?
The healthcare sector is constantly growing and has a high demand for physiotherapists in Australia. Therefore, the Government of Australia welcomes registered physiotherapists from around the world to join the healthcare industry in Australia. To practise as a physiotherapist in Australia, you need to clear the APC exam. The Australian Physiotherapy Council examination assesses if the knowledge and skills of the candidate meet the Physiotherapy Practice Thresholds in Australia which are set by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. The APC exam is your portal to prove your competence and skills to become a registered physiotherapist in Australia. You can opt for a remote written assessment in which you will be able to attend the exam from your personal location.
APC Exam Eligibility Criteria
There are different assessment pathways that the candidate can choose from. In most cases the standard assessment pathway may be opted. The eligibility for the assessment is mentioned below-
- The candidate must be an internationally trained physiotherapist with a minimum of 4 years degree in physiotherapy.
- The Candidate must be a registered physiotherapist in the home country.
Procedure for APC
1. Interim Certificate
A) Eligibility Assessment :- This step involves evaluating all the documents you submit according to the requirements.
B) Cultural Safety Training :- This step involves understanding and respect for diverse perspectives in healthcare practice.
2. APC Written Assessment
The APC written assessment consists of two papers that can be taken on the same day. This will assess your knowledge, problem-solving skills and decision-making process.
3. English Proficiency
Since Australia is an English-speaking country, migrating to Australia requires proof of your proficiency in the English language. For this purpose, you can choose IELTS, OET, or PTE.
4. APC Clinical Assessment
The APC clinical assessment is the final step of the process. This will create a space to display your clinical skills and reasoning. This assessment is conducted in a simulated environment. The candidates are required to go to Australia to complete this assessment.
Note :- You can give the English Proficiency test before or after the written examination
Exam Format
The Australian Physiotherapy Council exam consists of 2 parts. They are the APC written assessment and the APC clinical assessment.
The written assessment consists of 2 papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Each paper has 15 cases, totalling 30 cases across both papers. Each case has four multiple-choice questions. You are required to choose the one correct response to each item from a list of four possible answers. There are 60 multiple-choice items on each paper.
Testing Centres
Remote Written Assessment is a remotely supervised examination that is conducted four times a year. It allows you to undertake your assessment in your location. This means that the candidates from India can complete the written assessment from India itself.
