Greetings from Papua New Guinea. At first I didn’t know where to start and how to approach the AMC MCQ exam. Since June 2023 when I started this sessions on AMC preparation the story is different now. The Two lecturers Namely, Dr Swapnil and Dr Udara are exceptionally committed and deliver well. The team is always available to answer to us anytime. They provide great support. I have not done the skill assessment yet, hoping to get that done this week and hopefully I will sit for the exam in November 2023.

About The NCLEX Examination

What is the NCLEX Exam?

NCLEX Exam Eligibility Criteria

To be able to take the NCLEX exam, a person must be registered nurse in a country, and must possess a 4-year nursing degree. Eligibility criteria for the NCLEX exam includes-

  • Bachelor of Nursing or any other relevant 4-year degree
  • Registration as a nurse from the concerned authority in your home or any other country.
Procedure for NCLEX

Four imminent steps help you become a registered nurse in the USA, Canada or Australia. These are mentioned below.

1. Initial Assessment

This is the first step of the procedure, where the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (of the state that you are applying for) analyses your eligibility to practise as a nurse. The process involves filing up a form and sending it for approval.

2. NCLEX MCQ Exam

Once you pass the initial assessment, you become eligible to take the NCLEX MCQ Exam, which you can take in a Pearson testing centre near you.

The Pearson NCLEX exam contains questions in MCQ format, which you have to answer to qualify for the exam with a minimum score of 75 out of 145.

3. English Proficiency

After the NCLEX MCQ exam, you need to pass any English proficiency test such as IELTS, PTE, OET etc, which is acceptable in the state you are applying for. Proving English proficiency is vital for visa application into a native-English speaking country.

4. OSCE Exam

The last steps of the procedure is a practical exam that needs to be cleared. This exam is conducted by the nursing board of the country you are applying to, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Board in Australia.

Clearing this exam allows you to apply for a visa in the respective country.

Exam Format

The NCLEX MCQ exam consists of 3 parts, and the number of questions varies for each candidate.

  1. Level 1- Knowledge and understanding
  2. Level 2- Analysis and application
  3. Level 3- Qualitative and aptitude.
