After completing my MBBS from Shihezi University, Xinjiang, China, my journey was quite different from the usual medical path. I spent 8 years in China, learned Mandarin, adapted to a new environment, and completed my medical education with a Certificate of Merit as the third-ranked student in my batch. I was always interested in healthcare beyond just clinical practice and also completed a Diploma in Positive Psychiatry from the University of Sydney.
After coming back to India, I explored different options, including preparing for FMGE and later the AMC pathway for Australia. But after multiple attempts and challenges, I started looking for alternative career opportunities where I could still use my medical knowledge and skills.
That’s when I came across Academically. After getting counselled based on my background, interests, and strengths, I joined the Executive Programme in Medical Affairs course. Initially, I was unsure about moving into the pharmaceutical industry because I had no prior corporate experience. But the course helped me understand the healthcare industry, develop professional skills, improve my communication, and prepare for corporate interviews.
The training, mentorship, and practical approach gave me the confidence to explore medical affairs roles. Within the journey, I was able to secure a job opportunity with a package of ₹13 LPA in Bajaj General Insurance.
