Basic procedure (e.g., symptoms, hygiene, infection control),
NORCET (Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test) is the centralised computer-based recruitment exam. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducts it for hiring nursing officers across AIIMS and participating hospitals/institutes. NORCET is the primary gateway to Nursing Officer posts in AIIMS institutions and several centrally-funded hospitals. These are permanent/regular posts with central pay scales and good career progress.
NORCET cycles uses a two-stage selection model:
Stage I (Prelims)
A qualifying CBT is used to shortlist candidates for Stage II. Pattern commonly: 100 MCQs, 100 marks, 90 minutes, negative marking (−1/3 for wrong answers).
The prelims generally test a mix of nursing knowledge and general topics; it acts primarily as a filter.
Stage II (Mains)
A longer CBT with a larger number of questions focused on nursing topics.
Marks obtained here are used for final merit/selection.
Negative marking: Most NORCET cycles use −1/3 mark for each incorrect response; this is a key exam strategy factor.

The AIIMS NORCET exam format is as follows:
For Prelims:
