Below is a structured step-by-step process to obtain your dental license in the Gulf region.


1. Dataflow Verification (Primary Source Verification - PSV)

Before applying for the licensure exam, all foreign-trained dentists must undergo Dataflow Primary Source Verification (PSV). This process ensures that your educational qualifications, work experience, and professional licenses are genuine and recognised by the respective Gulf health authorities.

2. Licensure Exam

Once registered, candidates must pass the respective Prometric-based licensure exam for their target country. The exam format may vary based on the country and generally includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and, in some cases, a practical or viva component.


3. Registration with Regulatory Authorities

After receiving your PSV report and passing the licensure exam, you need to register with the health authority of the country where you intend to practice:

  • UAE: Dubai Health Authority (DHA) / Ministry of Health (MOH)/ Department of Health (DOH)
  • Saudi Arabia: Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
  • Qatar: Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP)
  • Oman: Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB)

MOH Exam for UAE

Passing Score:

  • Prometric Exam: Result will be uploaded online electronically within 24 hours.
  • Pass Criteria: Examinees must score 60% or above to pass.

Validity: MOH exam results are valid for 5 years.


QCHP for Qatar

  • Number of Questions: 150 MCQs.
  • Exam Duration: 3.5 hours.
  • Passing Score: 60%.
  • Attempts Allowed: 3 attempts.
  • Retraining: If unsuccessful after 3 attempts, candidates may need a 6-month retraining period.


SDLE For Saudi Arabia
