NEET PG Exam Syllabus and Pattern
The NEET PG exam is designed to test the knowledge of MBBS students in every field of medicine. The syllabus is divided into 3 main parts:

NEET PG 2025 Eligibility
There are certain criteria that a candidate needs to fulfil to be eligible for the exam.
The eligibility criteria for NEET-PG are:
- MBBS degree or a provisional pass certificate- recognised under the NMC Act, 2019.
- Registration certificate, permanent or provisional- issued by the MCI or SMC
- Completion of a one-year internship
The NEET PG internship deadline is July 31, 2025. Only those MBBS graduates who have completed their internship on or before this date can take the exam.
There is no upper age limit for the NEET PG exam.
You can take the exam as many times as required; there is no limit to that.
NEET PG 2025- Eligibility Marks
There is no minimum mark requirement in MBBS to sit for the NEET PG exam. Instead, there are the NEET-PG qualifying marks or the cut-off marks.
Every year, the cutoff marks for the NEET PG are declared by the NBE. This is normally done after the exam has been conducted. The cut-off marks are the lowest marks needed to qualify for the exam. These marks decide the colleges and the branch.
For the 2025 exam, the NBE has announced the cut-off percentile for each category.

As per the previous few years’ results, these percentiles would roughly correspond to:
- 50th percentile- 275–320 marks
- 45th percentile- 260–290 marks
- 40th percentile- 245–275 marks

NEET PG Eligibility for Foreign Students
Foreign graduates who want to take the NEET PG exam have a different set of criteria to fulfil. These include:
- Having a valid medical degree comparable to the MBBS degree
- Clearing the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination.
- Obtaining registration issued by MCI or SMC.
- Completing a 1-year internship in India.
Once these conditions are fulfilled, foreign medical graduates can take the NEET PG exam.
