Greetings from Papua New Guinea. At first I didn’t know where to start and how to approach the AMC MCQ exam. Since June 2023 when I started this sessions on AMC preparation the story is different now. The Two lecturers Namely, Dr Swapnil and Dr Udara are exceptionally committed and deliver well. The team is always available to answer to us anytime. They provide great support. I have not done the skill assessment yet, hoping to get that done this week and hopefully I will sit for the exam in November 2023.

About The NZREX Clinical Examination
What is the NZREX Clinical Exam?
NZREX is also known as the New Zealand registration examination. NZREX is a clinical examination for doctors to register and practice in New Zealand as authorised doctors in New Zealand. NZREX is a gateway to New Zealand for doctors to work in the healthcare workforce to fulfil the increasing demand for doctors over the past decade.
International medical graduates (IMG) can also take the NZREX exam and fulfil their dream of working and living in this beautiful country in the South Pacific Ocean while contributing to the healthcare sector.
Doctors who have qualified AMC 1(Australia), PLAB 1(U.K.), MCCQE 1(Canada), or USMLE steps 1 and 2(U.S.A.) can take advantage, apply for NZREX Clinical and begin their journey of practising medicine in New Zealand .
NZREX Clinical Exam Eligibility Criteria
To sit for the NZREX clinical exam, international medical graduates (IMGs) should have the following:
- An MBBS degree from a recognised college must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).
- English proficiency language, with one of the following scores:
- IELTS – Each individual section score should be minimum 7.0
- OET – Minimum score of 350 in each of the four components
- Must have qualified any one of the mentioned exams within 5 years of the allotted NZREX clinical Exam date:
- AMC Part 1 (Australia)
- USMLE Step 1 & Step 2 (United States)
- PLAB Part 1 (United Kingdom)
- MCCQE Part 1 (Canada)
Procedure for NZREX Clinical
1. Submit the form for the NZREX Clinical Examination
First time candidates should complete form NZREX 1 and document checklist mentioned in NZREX 3 and email them to examinations@mcnz.org.nz. Submit scanned copies of original documents along with the application. Attach a recent passport-sized photograph with a declaration that it has been taken within 4 months of the application.
2. Scheduling the NZREX Clinical Exam
After applying, the Medical Council of New Zealand will notify the candidate via e-mail within five days with payment instructions and other mandatory details. Once the exam fee is cleared, the application goes further within 20 days from the date of payment received; the candidate also gets further instructions and process details from the council.
3. Appear for the NZREX Clinical Exam
The exam will be conducted in Auckland, New Zealand. Once the exam slot is confirmed, book travel tickets and prepare accordingly.
4. Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or MCNZ
The final exam result will be declared by email within 10 working days of the exam date. Apply for prevocational training and register with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Exam Format
The exam consists of 12 assessed stations and 2 to 4 rest stations. Each assessed station lasts 12 minutes.
Each 12-minute station is structured as follows:
- 2 minutes – Reading instructions outside the station
- 10 minutes – Assessment inside the station
All stations involve a simulated patient and an examiner.
