Greetings from Papua New Guinea. At first I didn’t know where to start and how to approach the AMC MCQ exam. Since June 2023 when I started this sessions on AMC preparation the story is different now. The Two lecturers Namely, Dr Swapnil and Dr Udara are exceptionally committed and deliver well. The team is always available to answer to us anytime. They provide great support. I have not done the skill assessment yet, hoping to get that done this week and hopefully I will sit for the exam in November 2023.

About The NZREX Clinical Examination
What is the NZREX Clinical Exam?
Over the past decade, New Zealand’s healthcare system has grown significantly, and the demand for doctors has doubled. Despite this growth, there is still a strong need for skilled doctors in New Zealand.
International Medical Graduates (IMGs) have an amazing chance to grab this opportunity. All you have to do is pass the NZREX Clinical Exam to become a doctor in New Zealand. IMGs who have passed AMC Part 1, PLAB Part 1, MCCQE Part 1, or USMLE Step 1 & Step 2 can take the NZREX Clinical Exam.
The NZREX Clinical Exam is an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). This is for registration as a doctor with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Passing the NZREX exam confirms that a candidate meets the medical standards needed to practice in New Zealand.
NZREX Clinical Exam Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for NZREX clinical exam, international medical graduates (IMGs) should have:
- An MBBS degree from a college listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS)
- English language proficiency with one of the following scores:
- IELTS – Minimum 7.0 in each individual section
- OET – Minimum Grade B in all sections
Passed one of the following exams within five years of the allotted NZREX Clinical Exam date:
- AMC Part 1 (Australia)
- USMLE Step 1 & Step 2 (United States)
- PLAB Part 1 (United Kingdom)
- MCCQE Part 1 (Canada)
Procedure for NZREX Clinical
1. Apply for NZREX Clinical Examination
Submit scanned copies of the original documents along with your application. Attach a recent passport-sized photograph and declare that it has been taken within 4 months of your application.
2. Scheduling the NZREX Clinical Exam
After submitting your application, you will receive an email from the Medical Council of New Zealand within five days with payment instructions. Once the exam fee is paid, the application takes about 20 working days to process. You will receive further instructions via email.
3. Appear for the NZREX Clinical Exam
The exam is conducted in Auckland, New Zealand. Once your exam slot is confirmed, plan your travel and preparation accordingly.
4. Register with the Medical Council of New Zealand
You will receive your exam results via email within 10 working days. If you pass, apply for prevocational training and proceed with the registration process with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Exam Format
The exam consists of 12 assessed stations and 2–4 rest stations. Each assessed station lasts 12 minutes.
Each 12-minute station is structured as follows:
- 2 minutes – Reading instructions outside the station
- 10 minutes – Assessment inside the station
All stations involve a simulated patient and an examiner.
Testing Centres
The NZREX Clinical Exam is conducted at the testing centre in Auckland, New Zealand.
