Two things are true at the same time
1. Real remote roles exist. The pharmaceutical, CRO and health-tech industries run on computer-based work writing, safety data, coding, content. A large share of it is done remotely or hybrid, and dentists are genuinely hired for it.
2. Most “dentist work from home” ads are junk. If it asks for a registration fee, promises ₹50,000 a month for “form filling”, or has no company name, it is a scam. Genuine roles are salaried jobs at named companies.
The filter that never fails: a real remote job is advertised by a named company, has a proper job description, interviews you, and never asks you for money. If any of those is missing, walk away.

Do you need an MDS or a licensing exam?
No to both.
These are non-clinical industry roles, so no MDS, no NEET MDS and no clinical registration is required for most of them. Your BDS is accepted as a qualifying clinical degree, most job advertisements list “BDS, MBBS, PharmD, B.Pharm or life sciences” together.
The one exception is tele-dentistry, where you are practising clinically and therefore need valid registration.
Why capable dentists still don't get hired
The rejection is almost never about your clinical knowledge. It is these four things:
- A clinical CV listing extractions, RCTs and OPD numbers, which an applicant tracking system filters out before a human ever reads it.
- Not knowing the industry vocabulary, ICH-GCP, ICSR, MedDRA, Argus. Recruiters search for these exact words.
- A LinkedIn profile that just says “Dentist”, so recruiter keyword searches never surface you.
- No practice at corporate interviews, which test structured thinking rather than clinical recall.
Knowledge gets you shortlisted. Preparation gets you hired.
How to start - four steps
- Decide your goal. Side income alongside practice → medical writing or dental content. Full exit from clinical → pharmacovigilance or medical coding.
- Learn the fundamentals and tools. ICH-GCP and adverse event reporting for safety roles; Argus, Veeva Vault or MedDRA depending on the job.
- Rewrite your CV and LinkedIn in industry language. Transferable skills, tools and projects, not procedure lists.
- Build one sample. A writing sample, a mock safety case or a content piece you can show. For freelance work this matters more than a certificate.
